MEET THE NEXT GEN V6 ULTRASONIC GHOSTBOX LINEUP IN 3 COLOURS
Presenting the next generation of Ultrasonic Ghostbox Technology, proudly brought to you by AppyDroid Development.
⚔️ The Comparison: Appydroid UltraSonic Ghostbox technology vs. The Industry Standards
The Ghost Box market is flooded with devices. Most fall into two categories: expensive mass-produced "Spirit Boxes" (like the P-SB7 or S-Box) or basic DIY kits using inferior modules (like the TEA5767) which have inherent low signal and poor noise despite building a library exclusive for this chip.
The Appydroid UltraSonic Sweep circuit (V6.0) takes a different approach. By hacking the radio's analog control voltage rather than sending digital step commands, we achieve a performance level that digital boxes simply cannot match "PERIOD!" It's physically impossible for a Digital step sweep Ghost box to
acheive true linear sweeping with such clarity and definition, 50% of the available band is inaudible during scanning even with a low khz step the sweep of the band would take a very long time and still miss frequencies which may be importaint.
The UltraSonic Sweep circuit is the next generation sweep circuits offered by AppyDroid Development, The previous generation was a good alternative to other methods used to convert radios into Ghost boxes, It offered lots of customisation such as modes and a much more controlled sweep however had one minor tradeoff, the PWM Caused a slight buzz most often on the AM Bands, The UltraSonic upgrade completely resolves this by generating the PWM Voltage injection into the 20khz frequency its out of the human hearing range and is now completely inaudable, Not only this, there has been some key improvments in control with around 300% better sweep resolution more of the band is now fully audible, Dual mode sweep control just by using the radios tuner you can fully control the radios modes and sweep speed settings, No more external switches or knobs, Randomised sweep and Auto dynamic speed is enabled when the dial is at 0 - 5% position, This region of the dial would normally not be used so its now a mode, Shift the dial past 5% clockwise the radio enters Normal linear sweep with full speed adjustability from 1000 - 10ms speed it can be as slow or blindingly fast as you like, With its new updated Non blocking check of the dial position the controller now updates speed or mode selections instaintly, Previosuly this was done at the end of every duty cycle which had some delay in updating the speed. In short the new UltraSonic Sweep controllers now offer superior refinements in not just sound quality, but sweep resolution and responsive control.
Below are just some examples why our ghostboxs are a better choice.
🚫 The Problem with Commercial Digital Boxes explained!
Popular devices like the P-SB7 or S-Box are essentially cheap, mass-manufactured radios or re-branded with a high price tag. They suffer from a fundamental flaw in how they scan: The "Mute-Tune-Unmute" Cycle.
-
The "Machine Gun" Effect: To change frequency, these digital boxes must "Mute" the audio, switch the station, and then "Unmute." This creates a choppy, rhythmic Chh-Chh-Chh sound that chops up audio and makes EVPs harder to hear.
-
The "Blind Spots": Because they "step" in 100kHz increments (e.g., 98.1 -> 98.2), they completely miss the frequencies in between those numbers. You are technically missing 50% of the broadcast band and can not sweep like an Analog variant not even with a low step rate.
-
Digital Noise: The constant firing of digital commands creates audible interference a high-pitched whine or noisy chh sound that bleeds into the audio.
-
Mass Production: These units are churned out in factories with little quality control. Many users report failed devices or malfunctions which seem to be manufacturing faults due to budget parts, low quality boards, Poor sounding speakers and dreadfull sound production.
🚫 The Problem with Basic DIY (TEA5767)
Many hobbyists try to build their own using the TEA5767 radio module. We have tried our best with this module but sadly its not the best option.
-
Pros: Easy to code (requires very little logic).
-
Quite affordable to build a working model which is decent enough to be used as a Ghost Box scanner.
-
Cons: The TEA5767 is notorious for a high noise floor (hiss), poor signal sensitivity (it is "deaf" to weak signals), and the same "stepping" artifacts just as the expensive mass manufactured units. It is a functional scanner, but a poor performer due to hardware limitations despite our best efforts producing a custom library to unlock all the manufactures features its fun to play with but lacks clarity and has poor reception.
✅ The Appydroid Advantage: Why V6.0 sweep circuit is Different?
The Appydroid UltraSonic Sweep Controller does not "step" the radio. Instead, it injects a fluid control voltage, forcing the radio to "slide" through the frequencies like a violin string rather than a guitar fretboard.
1. The "Liquid Sweep" (No Gaps) Extremely smooth sound with low static.
Because we are simulating an analog tuning knob, the radio never mutes. It slides seamlessly from one station to the next. This allows you to hear the "Between Frequencies"—the white noise zones where many investigators believe EVPs reside—without any audio gaps.
2. 20kHz Silent Operation
Our V6.0 engine runs at Ultrasonic Speeds (20,000Hz). This is above the range of human hearing. While other boxes buzz and whine, the Appydroid is electronically silent. The only sound you hear is the radio.
3. In-House Quality Control
We don't build radios; we convert high-quality, select radio chassis known for their excellent speakers and reception and build quality. Every unit is modified by hand, flashed with our custom V6.0 firmware, and tested for audio clarity before shipping.
4. High-Performance, Low Cost and very easy to use. functions are intergrated into the tuner dial with no complex setup.
5. Easy adaptation in code for many radio models so can offer more choice in style from Compact to Vintage classic stylish radios.
Because we repurpose existing Good quality hardware rather than manufacturing cheap plastic shells from scratch, we can offer a device that outperforms $100+ units at a fraction of the price. The modifications made are seamless and fully intergrated leaving a completely stock looking product, "No external" battery boxes, switches or knobs, the circuit is designed to intercept the radios stock features safely and mimics manufactures intended operations so does not compromise the radio with Excessive voltage, it shares the radios own power source so physically can't damage it with prolonged use.
The Verdict:
If you want a box that sounds like a machine gun and misses half the frequencies, buy a digital step style Ghost box, Quality will be hit or miss.
If you want a fluid, organic, sounding Ghost box that captures the entire band, choose the Appydroid UltraSonic Ghost boxes. Quality is next level and extremely reliable, Quality tested in house, Affordable, professionally developed hardware to do the job properly.

**General Ghost Box Guide for All Models**
See above for the approximate dial range for the two models supplied. All models work the same. the Budget V3 Model, the tuner dial is located on the right side of the radio. The dial range shows the approximate mode and speed settings, and when the needle is that range, the speed and mode are shown above.
For all models, turn the radio on, adjust the volume, and set the desired radio band you want to use. The radio will automatically begin sweeping; the only control you need is the radio's main tuner dial, which is converted into sweep mode and speed control setting. Refer to your model above for the approximate when you turn the dial. Extend the antenna if in FM or SW modes The antenna can be fully retracted in AM mode, as both radio models have an internal AM antenna.
Once the radio is on and the volume/band is set, simply adjust the dial for your desired sweep speed. For the vintage, turn clockwise for faster and anticlockwise for slower. At 5% on the slowest setting, it changes to AUTO RANDOM MODE. On the XDATA Model, pushing the dial upwards makes it faster and downwards slower. Just like the vintage model, at 5% in the slower range, it will enter AUTO RANDOM MODE. For both models, turn the dial past 5% to enter normal linear sweep mode with speed control. You can then adjust the dial to the speed setting you want to use. You can use graph on the dial to memorize your favorite settings as you familiar with your ghost box.
AUTO RANDOM MODE is designed as a "set and forget" mode, ideal for, as the sweep rate is too fast but adequate for sessions. The random and chaotic pattern of the sweep makes this an mode to use; the pattern is truly randomized and with self-adjusting speed and frequency adjustment. You don’t even need to do anything except control the desired volume. Linear sweep full control over the desired speed; in this mode, the radio sweeps from start to end and loops continuously until stopped. The sweep rate is the speed at which it moves across the band. Ideally, want this so that if any radio is heard, it’s fragmented not to be recognized as a word or sentence. You have full from 1000 ms to 10 ms speed, starting from 5% of the band dial. At this position, the sweep speed is very slow; it’s only there to between two modes, as there is an immediate change in sound when switching from AUTO to Linear mode.
**Troubleshooting:** Please to fully charge the radio before attempting a session this will avoid 99% of any issues.
Radios are shipped with the stock storage level and won’t last long, so they need to fully charged before use. If you experience erratic operation or the sweep stopping this means the radio's battery is nearly depleted. Most quirks or glitches occur when there is low voltage. Fully charging will resume normal operation. Not hearing much? You are in a dead spot area. Move to a new location. Radio waves do not travel through objects very well, so if you notice the sweep is silent with no radio blips or noise, is most likely due to a weak signal area. Moving location will often fix this. the antenna is fully extended in FM or SW modes. is an obsolete broadcast band in most regions; it may be hard to hear anything on this band and may work better the evening. Try FM instead. If you still having issues, please email puggster2007googlemail.com or reach out on Facebook page "Appy." ---
